The 7mm Mandrel is 0.246" in diameter. Some vendors refer to this mandrel as the "A" rod. The standard 7mm Mandrel has the same threads on both ends. On the Precision Mandrel the rod seats down into the morse taper thus getting away from the thread on thread allignment used in the standard system.
